[JP 2] Thoughts on Japan 112th Television Drama Academy Award

The 112th television academy award ceremony took place about two days ago. This television academy award is given out four times a year, once during each season.Basically,  It awarded drama and its ost for Jdrama which aired between April and June.

Below are the awards and it's winners

Best Film Award:My family

Leading Actor Award:Kazunari Ninomiya(My Family)

Leading Actress Award:Imada Mio

Supporting Actor Award:Hamada Gaku

Supporting Actress Award:Matsumoto Wakana

Drama Song Award

1st Place:Answer -Naniwa Danshi(Theme song for Kindaichi Case Files)

2nd Place:Sore wo ai to yobu nara-URU(Theme song for My family)

3rd Place:Genkou -WANIMA(Theme song for Numba MG5)

Screenplay Award:Kuroiwa Tsutomu(My family)

Best Director Award:Shunichi Hirano, Kenta Tanaka, Yohei Miyazaki, Kazunari Tomita (My family)

Television award:Pine (Kenjiro Tsuda & Mame Saburo)

Basically the judging criteria are as follow for the above awards except for television award which is purely consensus

1.Reader votes

2.Judges (4 people, see below),

3.TV reporter votes (The Television editorial staff 15 people)

The votes are then totaled and the proportions are equalized.

Personal Thoughts

Personally,I watch Japan drama regularly and My family was indeed an interesting and suspensed drama.It is basically a kidnapping drama, where the parents work to get their daughter back.For more info, please refer to the link

Also, I'm glad Imada Mio has finally taken the female lead role; the girl has probably been a side character for the longest time. She is, of course, very pretty and attractive,and is probably one of the top 10 prettiest Jactress between 20-30s currrently.

I thought Hamada Gaku deserved it as well, having seen many of his past acting dramas in previous seasons.Sasuga,a veteran.

As for Matsumoto Wakana, I've never seen any of her previous acting work. But all I can say is that her acting in Yangotonaki Ichizoku is one of the drama's rare plus points; she plays her role as the obnoxious and irritating sister in law very well, especially when she constantly sing and taunt ,and put down Tsuchiya Tao, who plays the female lead, very well. This is probably one of, if not the, worst dramas in Tsuchiya Tao's career so far in my honest opinion. Despite its stellar cast with Matsushita Kouhei and Tao chan , the plot was at times tedious. On the other hand, its theme song, Walking in My Lane ,sang by Milet, is really great, and I listen to it frequently.

Answer by Naniwa Danshi winning the drama theme song award kinda surprised me. However, based on the judging criteria, it is clear that Johnny fans voted for it to win first place. I have nothing against Johnny fans,as I frequently hear UBU love, and is currently watching Rental Girlfriend Life Action where another Johnny plays the male lead. In my honest opinion, Sore wo ai to yobu nara by URU is a better song than Answer by Naniwa Danshi and should have taken first place. Moreover, after watching both Kindaichi Case File and My Family last season, I believe My Family is the superior drama.

Personally, I enjoy Kindaichi Case Files as i have read its manga in the past, and it was probably one of the first manga that I purchased. All in all, Kindaichi Case Files is a really great drama, full of mystery and suspense. However, Kindaichi Case File probably ranks third in my list of last season dramas, with My Family ranking second and Shoujiki Fudosan (Honest Property Agent), whose male lead is Yamap, ranking first.

Highly recommend Shoujiki Fudosan though for those who haven't watch it!
