Nogizaka46's 5th Generation audition was announced in July of 2021. The first eight members were revealed one by one between February 2nd and February 9th, 2022. The final three members were revealed after March 2022 due to study purposes.

Getting into Nogizaka46
Nogizaka46 (乃木坂46) is a Japanese idol group and the 1st group of the Sakamichi Series. They are the official "rival group" of AKB48. The 1st Generation members were announced on August 21, 2011
Their group name comes from their final audition venue, Sony Music Japan offices near Nogizaka Station.
Sakamichi Series group names are written in Japanese characters. This is to differentiate from the AKB48 Group which uses capital Latin letters.
They were named "46" instead of “48” with the meaning of "Even with fewer members than AKB48, we won’t lose".
Since February 23, 2023 the group captain is Umezawa Minami.
Differences from AKB48 Group
Nogizaka46 does not have its own theater, and does not perform in a fixed place regularly.
Unlike AKB48, Nogizaka46 has never held a Senbatsu Election.
There is no formal concept of "Idols you can meet" as there is in AKB48. Nogizaka46 does hold regular handshake events, though.
Regular members who are not selected for single selection are called “Unders". Opportunities to appear in media are fewer, and since there is no dedicated theater and no regular performances, their activities within Nogizaka46 itself are limited. Starting in 2014, live concerts by under members have helped make up for the lack of activity.
Concert
Since 2013, Nogizaka46 has held three recurring concerts per year. These are:
Nogizaka46 BIRTHDAY LIVE, on February 22nd to celebrate the group's anniversary.
Nogizaka46 Summer National Tour, in the month of August when students are on summer break.
Nogizaka46 X'mas Show, in December to celebrate Christmas.
In addition to these annual concerts, there are also regularly Under Lives held by Nogizaka46 Under Members. Many of these concerts were cancelled for the 2020 year due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Nogizaka46 hosts other concerts outside of these four categories as well, such as member graduation concerts, generational concerts, and concerts abroad.
