[Post 819] How Hong Kong & Macau Residents Are Reshaping Cities In China's Greater Bay Area | CNA Correspondent

Summary

It’s been eight years since China launched the Greater Bay Area integrating Hong Kong, Macau and nine Guangdong cities to boost innovation, finance and trade across the Pearl River Delta. With a nationwide property crisis casting a long shadow over the development of the mega region in the last few years, CNA’s Deborah Wong examines how greater integration of travel and people across the borders has provided a much-needed boost to one cash-strapped local government.

She also looks at whether Hengqin, a struggling special economic zone co-managed by Macau and Guangdong, can ride on the mega region drive and have its fortunes turned around. And Deborah finds out how an influx of mainland students in Hong Kong and Macau is reshaping the property industry in the special administrative regions.
