Across Southeast Asia, marriage rates are falling. In places like Vietnam and Thailand, where marriage is an important cultural institution, young adults are staying single longer, with some eschewing marriage altogether.

In Bangkok, half of its residents are single. In one survey 40.5% of single Thais have no plans to tie the knot.  In Vietnam, the age of marriage has steadily creeped up, as the younger generation delay walking down the aisle.
