[Post 1138] Gen Z Circus Trainee Performs To Get His Mother Out Of Cambodia's Minefields | Limitless
Summary
19-year-old Cambodian circus trainee Heung Sovanndy will do whatever it takes to get his mother out of her dangerous job of clearing land mines, far from their hometown. As he balances his passion for the circus along with studying for his exams, his sole focus is on survival. Sovanndy has spent his entire life studying at Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS) set up by survivors of the Khmer Rouge regime in Battambang where he’s learnt circus skills and the regular academic curriculum.
Despite his own personal challenges, he travels to Preah Vihear, the Thai-Cambodia border town, to volunteer and teach circus skills to young people who are displaced from the ongoing conflict. It is his way of giving back to the community. This episode focuses on Sovanndy as he balances the need to survive with his love for circus art and follows him to Siem Reap where he meets a mentor to see what life holds for full-time circus performers. Will Sovanndy continue his passion and train to be a full-time circus artiste?
