Liquified natural gas shortages have rocked major cities across India due to the war in the Middle East. 

It’s resulted in disrupted supply chains, high unemployment, and closure of businesses. Nearly 60 percent of India’s LPG and LNG demand is met through imports - a majority of those consignments are routed through the Strait of Hormuz. 

The crisis underscores India’s dependence on fossil fuels, which still meets around 80 percent of its energy needs. 

We traverse the country and meet entrepreneurs, scientists and end users striving to ramp up biogas production in a bid to provide an alternate form of energy to 700 million Indians living below the energy poverty line?
